4 Accounts
David Young (Treasurer) reported that the league had made a loss of £2,093. He pointed out that dinner ticket money, collected in March, was not included in the 2007 accounts. A provision of £1,000 had been made for the championship trophies.
He said he had neglected to transfer balance of collections to contingency
Unpaid fines stood at £271.
The loss was an improvement on last year and was smaller because of increased income, however, in his view, the league cannot sustain a loss of £2,000 every year. There is a need to raise income and reduce cost.
Areas of expenditure causing concern are postage and telephones. There was a considerable increase in the costs of the umpires appointment secretary.
He suggested that instead of using postage the league should use e-mail to send out all its communications.
The £200 charity donation will be sent to Martin House.
The stock of centenary ties and books has been written off.
Handbook: The costs of the 2007 handbook were offset by increased advertising. For 2008 quotes had been obtained from alternative printers.
Phoenix have quoted £3,060 for a handbook identical in style to the 2007 publication.
Sauce have quoted £2,700.
For full colour throughout Phoenix have quoted £3,873 and Phoenix £3,000.
It was agreed that the 2008 handbook would be a black and white publication which would help keep down costs. The job would be awarded to the lowest quote.
