4 Matters Arising
Suspect bowling action report: Manningham Mills sent another letter and they still have not replied. Asked for their answer within seven days. Now be asked for an immediate response.
East Bierley pitch: No reponse so far.
Floodlight Cricket: JCT 600 team won. Congratulations were extended to the Cleckheaton club and all involved for staging the event,
5 Accounts
Paid no bills since last meeting
Treasurer and Glyn Pearson to confirm payment for umpires coats to Solly Sports
Cup and Shield finals cup and gate receipts up on last year.
Honararia needs to be paid by end of September.
Approval given for payment when amounts are confirmed.
5 Correspondence:
Yeadon CC: A letter was received from their chairman Duncan Sloan re numbering on their shirts. 1stX1and second XI to cover numbers and letters over. For 2008 they will conform with league regulations and submit their shirts
Undercliffe CC: Re behaviour of Manningham Mills 2ndXI and spectators. Three incidents highlighted. Umpires report does not support the accusations.
It was agreed that a copy of Undercliffe’s letter be sent to Manningham Mills for observations. Response needed in 14 days.
Letter from Esholt and Farsley’s response: Letter sent to Nigel Thornton, Farsley secretary, under rule 34 regarding payment of teas. Esholt wrote to Farsley and submitted an invoice. Farsley’s response was read out stating their case.
It was resolved that provided the umpires instructed a tea to be taken league rule 34 applies. Farsley to be written to instructing them to pay for the eight teas forthwith.
New Work Permit rules: Andrew Carter: Border and Immigration Officer for the Home Office has asked to address all clubs about the new points based system to be introduced by the Government. It was agree he will address clubs after the agm. Club secretarys and reps may attend.
6 Norwood Green
The officers were authorised by previous meeting to make a decision. The President, secretary, CEO and Chairman all visited Norwood Green. They decided unanimously to withdraw the invitation to join the league for 2008 and a letter was sent by registered delivery from the chairman.
7 Fixture dates 2008
The Chief Executive issued a document outlining the dates. It showed that the Sovereign Health Care Priestley Cup final will be played on August 24 with a reserve date of August 25. The Sovereign Health Care Priestley Shield will be staged on August 10 with August 11 as the reserve date.
8 Alterations to Rules:
The following proposals from clubs will be allowed to go forward:
Cleckheaton’s proposal regarding the use of covers.
Cleckheaton’s proposal regarding increasing value of the win to 12 points.
Baildon’s proposal that the winning side in any match receives 20 points with no additions The losing side will receive bonus points as per existing rules.
Saltaire’s proposal for the win to be altered to 12 points with four batting points at 125, 150, 175 and 200 runs and four bowling points at 3, 5,7 and nine wickets. Four points for abandoned match six for a tie.
East Bierley proposal for the toss of the coin to be replaced by the away side having the choice of batting or bowling.
Management Board proposals
Weather conditions revert to MCC Laws it is up to the umpires but offer light to the batting side.
Start times 1pm in all Sovereign Health Care Priestley Cup ties
Rule 44 Final paragraph the same as rule 33.
Rule 16: No alteration of fixtures without prior agreement of the board.
Rule 21 Cup 14 Shield 8. Where no play possible players selected and on the ground will be deemed not to have played.
9 Discipline:
Amar Rashid (Manningham Mills); Suspended for two weeks by club and further two games by discipinary committee September 3 to 16 8 week suspended sentence for the next year ECB Code of Conduct 1.1.3 1.1.4 and spirit of cricket 1.2.4 1.2.5 1.2.6 and 1.2.7.
10 Wasim Munawar (Saltaire) charge unproven so player received a warning
Ijaz Khan (Saltaire) suspended for one week by club got a further one week with a further two weeks suspended to end of 2008 season. ECB Code 1.1 1 Spirit of Cricket 1.21. – responsibilities of captains 1.27.
11 Finals
Thanks to Pudsey Congs and Undercliffe who housed both finals at short notice.
The chairman has written to the widow of Gerry McGowan the past chairman of Sovereign Health Care who died recently.
12 Trophies
New plinth cost £44 plus vat needed for Priestley Cup. Approval given.
Mick Illingworth Trophy in a terrible state can’t be replaced Mr Illingworth to replace top of trophy. Management Board extended their thanks
13 Facilities Marking:
Suggested it should be done as and when required. Bad reports on captains assessment of umpires will trigger an inspection.
14 Pitch Marking
Draft scheme proposed by ECB to be discussed as agenda item at next meeting.
15 Covers
Recommended sizes have been obtained by Rod Heyhoe.
16 Woodlands v Undercliffe
The Secretary to write to Woodlands regarding the absence of a fielding circle for their Sovereign Health Care Priestley Shield semi-final against Undercliffe.
