Holders Barnsley were knocked out of this season's Solly Sports Crowther Cup on an afternoon when rain forced all of the ties to be decided by bowl outs.

Barnsley were beaten 5-4 by the JCT 600 Bradford League Second Team champions Woodlands and they weren't the only high-profile casualty. The 2004 winners Townville went out at Spen Victoria - the ground where they won the trophy.

The teams through to Tuesday's third round draw as winners of bowl outs are Shelley, Wakefield St Michael's, Saltaire, Baildon, Wrenthorpe, Methley, Mirfield Parish Cavaliers, Scholes (CYL), Skelmanthorpe, Liversedge, Gomersal, Spen Victoria and Woodlands.

Birstall will join them after their opponents Clayton West withdrew. The game between Farsley and Carlton was declared a no result by the umpires and the Management Committee will await their report into events in the bowl out which prompted the decision.

Birstall will join them in the third round after their opponents Clayton West withdrew from the competition.

One tie, the one between Featherstone and Keighley is being played next Sunday. The fixture was moved prior to today's washout
