Division One

Gareth Clough hit a timely century as Pudsey St Lawrence extended their winning start to four games with an emphatic 148-run win over East Bierley,

All rounders Gareth Clough and Chris Marsden set up this latest success with fine individual performances.

The consistent Clough made an unbeaten 119 which was compiled from 131 balls with four sixes and 11 fours.

Clough was assisted by David Hester (32) and Marsden (55) as St Lawrence recovered from a nervy 42-3 to post a total of 252-5.

East Bierley, who must now be dreading their return to Tofts Road next Sunday in the second round of the Sovereign Health Care Priestley Cup, were dismissed for just 104.

Scotland skipper Gavin Hamilton made 44 for East Bierley but the rest of their batting was disappointing as Marsden picked up four for 26 with his off spin.

St Lawrence are now 22 points ahead of Woodlands who inflicted a second successive defeat on champions Baildon.

Paceman Sarfraz Ahmed (5-27) and left-arm spinner Chris Brice (4-48) sealed their 19-run win by dismissing Baildon for 165. New recruit Adil Islam with 59 and Simon Webb (41) battled hard but couldn't spare Baildon from another loss.

Woodlands had struggled when they batted first. Brice (30) was their top scorer as Andy Walker (4-48) and Mushtaq Ahmed (3-28) posed problems.

Woodlands' joy at winning the match was tempered by the fact that former Yorkshire opening batsman Scott Richardson suffered a broken hand from the first ball of the match and will be out of action for six weeks.

enabled Farsley to secure their second win of the season - a seven-wicket triumph over Yeadon.

Rashid stroked a six and 17 fours in his 100-ball innings as Farsley, with the aid of a forceful 52 from opener James Lee, overhauled Yeadon's score of 195 with 10.2 overs to spare.

Debut-making overseas player Tharanga Da Silva announced his arrival on the Bradford League scene with an unbeaten 52 for Yeadon. Unfortunately he did not receive any effective support. Opener Andrew Pickering - promoted from the second team - was the only other batsman to make an impression with 39. Skipper Chris Henry took four for 77 for Farsley against his old club.

Newly-promoted Undercliffe are third following their 20-run win over Bradford & Bingley. Opening bowlers Kurtis Whippey (3-36) and Harry Painter (3-51) posed problems for Bradford & Bingley who were dismissed for 175 in reply to Undercliffe's 195-7.

David Clow (36) was Bradford & Bingley's top scorer while Sri Lankan Naweed Ghany showed promise in his knock of 32.

Undercliffe, who made a sluggish start, were revived by a patient 54 from former Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire opener Ashley Metcalfe, and a ferocious 59 from 29 balls by wicketkeeper Luke Holyroyd which contained five sixes. Clow was the most successful bowler with three for 57.

Cleckheaton recorded their second win when they beat Saltaire by five wickets at Moorend. The visitors never fully recovered two wickets in Ian Wardlaw's opening over without a run on the board.

Opener Tim Jackson (42) and Waleed Akhtar (39) tried to steady the ship but Saltaire were dismissed for 120 with Wardlaw finishing with four for 38 and overseas player Ammer Mahmood (4-37).

Cleckheaton also lost early wickets but recovered to win with ease as Ian Nicholson made 50 and Edward Walmsley 42no)

Division Two

The top two were both all beaten as the battle at the top hotted up. Leaders Hanging Heaton, Keighley, and Brighouse all saw their unbeaten records perish, while Windhill were also defeated.

It means the battle for promotion is now intriguingly poised. Hanging Heaton, despite their 23-run reverse at Manningham Mills, still lead by 10 points from Keighley and Brighouse, with Mills a further point back.

Mills showed no ill-effects from their loss at Brighouse last week as they overcame Hanging Heaton.

Leaders Hanging Heaton suffered their first defeat of the campaign when they went down by 23 runs at Manningham Mills while second-placed Keighley lost by five wickets at Bowling Old Lane.

New boys Rob McFarlane (65) and Nick Bresnan (37) fought hard but the fine bowling of Zeeshan Qasim (6-52) proved decisive as Hanging Heaton were bowled out for 180.

Keighley had a nightmare afternoon at Bowling Old Lane where they were bowled out for just 83. Zubair Najeeb (4-28) and Amjid Khan (3-20) did the damage. Old Lane lost five wickets knocking off the runs required to win.

Hartshead Moor inflicted Brighouse's first defeat of the campaign - winning by 60 runs. Hartshead Moor compiled a challenging 241-8 with Jonathan Gould making 50. Brighouse replied with 181-6, a score built around an unbeaten 92 from skipper Paul Cummins who had earlier taken three for 49 with his off spin.
