Liversedge has been seen selected as the venue for the 2009 Solly Sports Heavy Woollen Cup final.

The Central Yorkshire League club was chosen by the competition Management Committee to stage the showpiece event on Sunday, August 2. They also chose Hanging Heaton's Bennett Lane ground as the venue for the Crowther Cup final on Monday, August 24.

And in a diversion from their normal policy they have also selected the venues for the next two Heavy Woollen Cup finals

Hanging Heaton will stage the 2010 final and Spen Victoria will be the hosts for the the 2011 final.

Competition president Dave Sharp said: "We felt it was important to acknowledge the fact that we have three clubs who have proved to be excellent hosts for the Heavy Woollen Cup final.

"We have seen that in moving the final between these clubs in the last three years we have seen new innovations and ideas which have enhanced the event.

"We also believe it creates added interest for players and spectators alike if we move the final around. We see this decision as a vote of confidence for Liversedge, Hanging Heaton and Spen Victoria."

Although the venues have been set for the 2010 and 2011 Heavy Woollen Cup finals, clubs can still apply to stage the Crowther Cup finals.

"It is an opportunity for clubs to show us that they can stage big matches and press their claims to be included alongside Liversedge, Hanging Heaton and Spen Victoria as final venues."
