Pakistan Test ace Saqlain Mushtaq was unable to save Manningham Mills from a first round exit on his debut for the club.

Saqlain top scored with 30 as Mills were dismissed for 99, and took two for 20 in 10 tidy overs, but his side were beaten by one-wicket in a nail-biting finish.

Saltaire, the surprise Division One leaders, made it four wins out of four thanks largely to the efforts of paceman Tim Linley who destroyed the Mills innings with a spell of five for 14. They were also indebted to the determined batting of last-wicket pair Tauseef Ahmed and skipper Ijaz Khan who came together with ten runs needed and saw their side home.

One spinner who ensured he was on the winning side was Bradford & Bingley's Matthew Cockshott. He took the season's first hat-trick during a devastating spell of six for 14 as Bowling Old Lane were dismissed for 84. Openers Scott Etherington (36no) and Simon Davies (31no) steered their side to a ten-wicket win.

Yeadon came out on top in their battle with the 2007 beaten finalists Cleckheaton by five wickets. Dan Shuffe made 69, Tom Johnston (46) and Greg Pickles (44) as Yeadon cruised past the Cleckheaton total of 187 all out with nine overs to spare. Former Yorkshire paceman Greg Lambert picked up five for 34 as Cleckheaton failed to capitalise on the efforts of Mally Nicholson (54), Neil Nicholson (30) and skipper John Wood (30).

Baildon maintained their winning start to the season as they defeated Hanging Heaton by 42 runs. The Batley side are going through a tough time but showed enough fight to suggest they can soon turn things around.

Ahsan Butt (73), Naeem Ashraf (50) and Jonny Reynolds (45) helped Baildon to compile a score of 245-5. Hanging Heaton, despite losing two early wickets, rallied to make 203. Skipper Alan Mynett (74) and overseas player Vipinlal Manikoth (66) played well against an attack in which left-arm opening bowler Andy Walker (4-34) was the most impressive performer.

Richard Gould's first century of the season enable Gomersal to defeat spirited Idle by nine wickets. Gould made an unbeaten 119 and with help from overseas player Shahzaib Khan, ensured his side overhauled an Idle score of 196 all out Luke Heinemann (69) was the best of the Idle batsmen while Ben Platt (4-46) and Gulsheraz Ahmed 3-43) were the pick of the bowlers.

With skipper Gavin Hamilton away leading Scotland against Warwickshire and injuries ruling out Greg Wood and Chris Elstub, East Bierley had to draft in a number second team players for their trip to Great Horton. One of them, second team skipper Matthew Anderson, took four for 32 as Great Horton were dismissed for 131. Opening bowler Paul Hutchison took four for 19.

East Bierley raced to an eight-wicket win with Gharib Razak making an unbeaten 53 to erase the memory of his duck against Pudsey St lawrence the previous day.

All-rounder Chris Marsden wasted little time in destroying Brighouse's hopes. He took four for 18 as he and Gary Severn (4-33) combined forces to bowl out the Division Two side for 95. Marsden then smashed an unbeaten 56 to speed his side to their target.

Keighley avenged their opening day defeat by Hartshead Moor as they defeated their Division Two rivals by five wickets. Jonathan Gould (74), Matthew Evans (37) and Martin Ellis (33) helped Hartshead Moor to post a challenging 209-9, but Keighley responded to the challenge an secured a much-needed win with Andy Waggett hitting 74 and Paul Quinlan (47).

The battle between the two Division Two promotion hopeful Undercliffe and Bankfoot went the way of Bankfoot. They triumphed by 47 runs and once again their old warhorse Greg Colehan was in the thick of the action. First he made 31 to enable his side to post a score of 205 despite the efforts of Andrew Duckworth (4-45). Colehan followed up by taking three for 12 as Undercliffe were dismissed for 158. Andrew Deegan gave Colehan support with three for 33.
