Former England captain Mike Gatting and members of the current England squad will be dropping in at Red Lane when Farsley quite literally will be raising the roof for NatWest Cricket Force 2008 on Saturday, April 5
Yorkshire coach Martyn Moxon and a party of players including former Bradford League star Anthony McGrath will also be present as the Division Two club summon up all the volunteer help they can to replace the damaged flat roof on their clubhouse with a pitched one.
They also plan to change the windows in the clubhouse and are also installing a new plumbing system. If that is not enough they are also doing some decorating, retiling and general maintenance.
Farsley have been rewarded for their enterprise as they have been selected as one of the clubs to host the Natwest Roadshow. The official visitors will include Dave Leighton, Bruce Cruse (ECB Funding and Facilities Manager) and Tessa Whieldon (ECB Community Clubs Programme Manager)
Now Farsley are urgung youngsters and cricket fans to drop in at Red Lane between 10.30am and 3.30pm to meet with stars, collect a few autographs and see the work for themselves. They will also be able to secure coaching from expert coaches.
Club official Nick Higgins said: "It is all being done with volunteer labour. We are urging members, their friends and members of the public to come and help us.."
Currently Farsley are seeking donations of materials from local and national companies. Higgins added: "The ECB have put us in touch with some of their partners, but every little bit of help will be welcomed."
