The JCT 600 Bradford League Management Board have confirmed the venues for the 2008 Sovereign Health Care Priestley Cup and Shield finals.

Wagon Lane, home of Bradford & Bingley, will host the Sovereign Health Care Priestley Cup final on Sunday, August 24 while the Sovereign Health Care Priestley Shield final will be played at Cleckheaton's Moorend ground on Sunday, August 10.

Bradford & Bingley were due to host last season's final but had to surrender the invitation when poor weather in June meant the date of the match was put back two weeks and their ground was unavailable on the rearranged date.

The match was subsequently switched to the Britannia Ground where Pudsey Congs made the most of home advantage to defeat Cleckheaton.

While it is normal practice for the cup final venue to be selected well in advance of the new season, the decision to name the hosts for the Shield final at the same time is a new move.

The Management Board felt it was vital that clubs staging big matches should be given as much notice as possible so that they can plan for the big day. It was also felt that it would enable the host club to be able to build the preparation of the final wicket into their schedule for their square.

Cleckheaton have proved themselves to be an innovative club who showed when staging last season's floodlit Twenty/20 tournament that they have the necessary infrastructure to put on a big match.
