Spen Victoria has been chosen as the venue for the 125th anniversary Solly Sports Heavy Woollen Cup final on Sunday, August 3.

It will be the first time that the JCT 600 Bradford League club have staged the final, although they did create a good impression when hosting three successive Crowther Cup finals between 2004 and 2006.

Hanging Heaton, who stepped in at short notice to host last year's final have been chosen to stage the Crowther Cup final on Monday, August 25.

Spen Victoria chairman Derek Warriner said: "We are honoured to be selected and the work has already started to plan for the final. This is a tremendous boost for the club."

To mark the 125th anniversary the Management Committee have decided to invite former winning captains to attend.

Secretary Lesley Robinson said we have been in contact with around 20 and we are hoping clubs will help us to add to that number. We will be putting on a special tea for them."

Any club who can help put the Management Committee in touch with a winning captain should contact Lesley Robinson on 01535 669313 or email: keiles33@btopenworld.com
