Pre-season meeting for all captains

Posted: March 30, 2007

All first and second team captains have been invited to the pre-season meeting at Cleckheaton on Tuesday at 8pm.

For the first time the Management Board have stipulated that if a captain cannot attend he must be replaced by a fellow team member and not a club official.

The meeting is an important forum for captains at which their roles and responsibilities will be outlined.

The modified umpire assessment procedure will be outlined by the Bradford League Umpires Association chairman Glyn Pearson.

Captains will also be made aware of their responsibilities for submitting their team lists on the approved ECB card, which includes signing the disclaimer on the fast bowling directives for junior players.

The captains have two additional responsibilities this season. They are now responsible, instead of the umpires for signing the results sheet at the end of the game. The away captain also has to rate the quality of the pitch, facilities and working of the scorebox.

League chairman Graham Reid said: "The meeting is an important one and we urge all clubs to ensure that their captains attend."

Members of the Bradford League Management Board, including president Keith Moss and chairman Graham Reid, will be in attendance along with Richard Whitehurst who is a players representative on the new board.

Clubs who are not represented will be fined £25.
