Management Board statement regarding player eligibility

Posted: July 1, 2007

The JCT 600 Bradford League Management Board has investigated various claims regarding the eligibility of certain players and has seen documentary evidence to confirm that all such players are qualified to play in the league.

The Management Board invites any person who has any concerns to raise them officially. The Management Board thanks the clubs and the players involved in assisting with the investigation.

The Management Board wishes to reiterate the rules regarding overseas player eligibility. Any player who has lived in England for less than four years is classed as an overseas player. He will need to prove that he is entitled to live in England legally.

The league will require to see a passport, visitors's visa or work permit which confirms the player's status. The league forwards a full list of its overseas players to UK Work Permits annually.

Any of these players who have lived in England legally for four years are eligible to play without restriction. It is good practice for clubs registering a player who was formerly categorised as an overseas player to provide evidence of his eligibility to the league at the time of registering him.
