Last year's beaten finalists Baildon launched their bid for the 2007 Solly Sports Heavy Woollen Cup with a 99-run with over Huddersfield leaguers Shelley and their hero was teenage batsman Jonathan Reynolds.

He continued his bright start to the campaign by striking 116 as Baildon made 312 for six before restricting their opponents to 213 for nine.

Alex Blakeborough was another batsman in form making 66 as Farsley chased down a total of 276 for two to record a five-wicket win over Lascelles Hall.

Gomersal's new signings Bradley Parker (83), Richard Gould (42) and Yorkshire leg spinner Mark Lawson (36) helped Gomersal to a seven wicket win over Meltham who made 231 for eight batting first.

Veteran bowler Andy Wilsdon took three for 40 and Imran Amin (3-42) as Undercliffe defeated Skelmanthorpe by 25 runs. Teenage batsman Farak Hussain top scored with 33 for Undercliffe.

Yeadon maintained their bright start with a 76-run success against Kirkheaton. Steve Cobley (54) and Grant Soames (45) guided their side to 215, then Darren Drake took four for 24 as Kirkheaton were dismissed for 139.

Idle moved into Tuesday's second round draw with a 37-run success over Manningham Mills, while Saltaire defeated Brighouse by 100 runs after scoring 234 for nine and bowling their rivals out for 134.

JCT 600 Bradford League champions Woodlands made easy work of defeating Spen Victoria by 199 runs. Chris Brice enjoyed his promotion to opener and made 83, while Safraz Ahmed provided the late fireworks as Woodlands reached 279 for nine. Spen were bowled out for 80 with their old boy Tosh Baker taking six for 18.

If Saturday's league programme had been dominated by the new boys, then the Heavy Woollen Cup was the day of the old boys with a number of familiar players coming back to help inflict defeats on Bradford League clubs.

The Bethel brothers Steve (87no) and Andy (80) helped Whitley Hall to defeat Steve's old club Hanging heaton by 41 runs. Whitley Hall made 269 for five before restricting Hanging heaton to 228. James Stansfield top scored for Hanging Heaton with 59.

Former East Bierley seamer Paul Hemming claimed four for 30 as central Yorkshire Leaguers Liversedge defeated Morley by six wickets. Morley's score of 172 proved inadequate as Chunara (68) steered Liversedge to victory.

Neil Gill, the former Pudsey Congs stalwart, made a valuable 33 as Wrenthorpe recovered from slumping to 116 for seven to defeat Keighley by 75 runs. Sri Lankan pace bowler Dinusha Fernando, who quit Idle for Wrenthorpe this season, took four for 23 as Keighley were dismissed for 126 in reply to a score of 201 for eight. The highlight for Keighley was the excellent bowling of 16-year-old Max Davison who took five for 27.

Toby Drummond made a sparkling 118 for East Bierley but couldn't spare them from a 96-run loss at Golcar. The home side made 309 for three with Steve Whitwam caning the East Bierley attack for 86. East Bierley made 213 in reply.

Bankfoot were unable to repeat last season's win over Doncaster Town, losing by 151 runs.
