The Bradford League Umpires Association's winter recruitment drive has resulted in them having and additional 16 umpires to staff matches this season.
Some of them are former umpires returning to the JCT 600 Bradford League, but 11 of them are new recruits.
Umpires Association chairman Glyn Perason said: "We are delighted to have additional umpires and we hope they will enjoy the challenge.
"We will be mentoring and supporting the new umpires and we hope the club captains will play their part by being constructive when filling in the assessment forms."
This winter the Umpires Association held training courses at Undercliffe and Spen Victoria and both of them had candidates who had come forward after the autumn appeal to clubs for volunteers.
Bradford League life member Tommy Mathers, speaking at Thursday's Bradford League meeting, said: "We should congratulate the Umpires Association on their successful recruiting." |
