Minutes of meeting on January 16, 2007 at Pudsey St Lawrence

 

 

Present: Keith Moss (President), Graham Reid (Chairman), Bob Shackleton (Chief Executive), Steve Raistrick (Secretary), David Young (Treasurer), Alan Birkinshaw (Media and Marketing officer), Glynn Pearson (Umpires' Representative), Tom Priestley (Umpires' Representative), Rod Heyhoe (Club Representative), Mick Illingworth (Club Representative), Babar Butt (Players' Representative).
The chairman welcomed Mick Illingworth to the Management Board.

MATTERS ARISING

Yorkshire:
The President, Chief Executive and Chairman had met with county officials. It was described by them as a poor meeting

Junior League: Alan Birkinshaw had spoken to the Bradford League about our sponsorship donation and how they could Sportsmatch it.

Reg Nelson: The chairman had replied to his letter and also written to Michael Brook.

Fixtures: The chairman thanked the Chief Executive for sorting out the 2007 fixtures.

TREASURER'S REPORT
The following payments were approved for payment, League Cricket Conference affiliation £30, Arena Business £102.30, White Rose subscription £25, Hi Tec Business Machines £50.47, Tara Consultancy £100

CORRESPONDENCE
Manningham Mills:
The club had written requesting information regarding the event held on Sovereign Health Care Priestley Cup final day. This was discussed and a reply forwarded.

Life Membership: John France replied to the Management Board accepting the invitation to become a Life Member. He also offered to assist with the league's trophies.

Keighley: They wrote to express their thanks for an excellent annual dinner.

Sovereign Health Care Priestley Cup final: Bradford & Bingley confirmed their acceptance of the invitation to stage the 2007 final on Sunday, August 12.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS
Brighouse:
They had made a request to the Chief Executive for no matches on the weekends of July 7 and the weekend of August 11/12. This was received after the fixtures had been compiled. It was agreed unanimously that the fixtures would be played on the designated dates and that brighouse would be reminded of Cup rule 4.

Yorkshire membership: The board members agreed to take out membership option four costing £150.

Handbook, website, Advertising sub committee: A report was given of a very productive meeting where advertising packages involving both the printed and electronic media were agreed. It was also the committee's intention to offer micro sites to clubs or other cricket organisations. The website is to be relaunched for March 5.

Sponsorship: Alan Birkinshaw gave an update on his recent meeting with JCT 600. A full sponsorship agreement was presented to the President and Chairman for final written approval. It was agreed that Mick Illingworth would be the main contact with JCT 600 during the season.

Umpires: Glynn Pearson reported that the winter training courses had attracted 19 at Undercliffe and ten for the course starting at Spen Victoria on January 28. He said one umpire had been lost to another league but the position was encouraging

Match report sheets: These have been revamped with captains to sign them rather than umpires at the end of the game.

Umpires Report Card: These will be introduced with the umpires giving start and finish times, details of any stoppages or delays, fielding points and Albert Smith Spirit of Cricket points. The cards will be sent to the Chief Executive with postage prepaid. It will cost £60 for a free post licence.

Captains' Meeting: This has been set for Tuesday, April 3, at Cleckheaton 8pm. Clubs to be told only captains and playing representatives to attend.

Facilities Marking: Ground and pitch marking in hand. Rod Heyhoe to visit every club in early April to see how the pre-season work is progressing.

Geoff Driver: Babar Butt made the board members aware that the Saltaire chairman had been taken ill. The board wished him a speedy recovery.

Groundsmen's details: These have been requested so that information specific to them can be addressed directly to them.

Deaths: It is with sadness that the board report the passing of Ken Storr (Farsley), Graham Roope (Surrey, England and Farsley) and Donald Newton (Long serving reporter for Crabtrees News Agency )
